We’re thrilled to announce that Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries has achieved Platinum accredited membership with The 5% Club for the 2024-25 year! Building on last year’s success as a Gold  member, this prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to empowering our team through our “earn & learn” programs, which include apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and sponsored student placements.

Earning Platinum status is an honour that reflects our dedication to creating robust opportunities for professional growth within our team. At Hungry Caterpillar, we believe in the power of investing in people. This new level of recognition underscores the success of our approach to hands-on, real-world training that equips our educators with the skills and confidence they need to deliver exceptional care to the children and families we serve.

I am incredibly proud of the apprenticeship program we’ve developed at Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries over the past few years. Originally launched to help address recruitment and retention challenges in our sector, our apprenticeship scheme has grown into something much more impactful. Today, we support between 30 and 40 apprentices at any given time, offering pathways to earn Level 2, 3, and 5 qualifications in early years education. Gaining a formal qualification while building hands-on experience opens countless doors for our apprentices, and we’ve watched many of them advance and excel in their careers within our organization and beyond.

“This year, we’re also thrilled to have been recognized by the Department for Education as a Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employer for 2024, coming in at 33rd place. Being one of only a handful of nurseries to receive this award is an incredible achievement for us and a testament to the dedication we bring to nurturing talent in our field.

“This accomplishment would not be possible without the dedication of our management and senior team, who consistently mentor and support our talented apprentices across the nurseries. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our trusted external training partners, HAWK and The Childcare Company, whose expertise and collaboration ensure a high-quality learning experience for every apprentice.”
