Helen and Douglas House Fundraiser!

About the Event:

On Saturday 13th August our lovely practitioner Sian decided to hold a fundraising event to support a fabulous charity, Helen and Douglas House. Sian has been part of the Hungry Caterpillar family for 3 years and is currently working towards her level 3 qualification. This event took a lot of hard work and preparation and due to Sian’s passion for supporting this charity, the turnout was incredible.

The fundraiser had fun stalls including hook a duck, raffle, face painting, sponge the staff and many more. Sian wanted this fundraising event to welcome the entire High Wycombe community as well as our parents and children. As a result, Sian received amazing feedback with people saying that they enjoyed the games and had a fabulous time.

Sian chose Helen and Douglas House charity due to a colleague who has unfortunately had someone close to them use Helen and Douglas House. Ella was at Helen House Hospice back in 2018.

Ella had Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which she was diagnosed with at 6 months old and moved to Helen House Hospice (for Children) to receive care once her condition worsened.

Helen House supported Ella, her siblings and parents as part of their respite. Ella spent lots of time in and out of Helen House until she sadly passed away in her sleep on Easter Sunday 2018, she was aged just 1 & a half years old.

Her mum Natalie has a TikTok page and she is happy for us to share the link so people can see Ella’s story. There are 4 video’s sharing their journey- be warned it is really emotional- grab a tissue for Part 4!

Once being told this heart-breaking story, Sian knew that the fundraiser needed to be in aid of Helen and Douglas House as they are such an amazing charity and support everyone who needs it at this very difficult time. When talking to this charity, it was clear that they promoted our values as a company too.

As a result of this amazing event, it has helped us to become closer to our community in High Wycombe and it has introduced us to other charity’s that work to support children and adults as these are the main partners we work with. Therefore we want to support them in the future.

Moving forward, we have additional plans to help raise extra money for Helen and Douglas House. We are currently planning a park run which will be companywide, including staff members across the entire company and families of the children that attend our nursery.

We have set up a gofundme page where you can sponsor us to complete the 5K park run to help support and raise additional donations for this amazing charity. If you would like to donate, further down is a link that says donate now.

We are grateful for any donations big or small!

On behalf of the Hungry Caterpillar family, I would like to congratulate Sian for hosting an extremely successful fundraiser and her ongoing efforts to support this charity. Well Done Sian!
